If you wish to be an NFL owner please read. Little Dan Snyder has made a laughingstock of the Redskins. As Jack Nicholson said to the Chief in On Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, ”you fooled them all Chief, you fooled them all.”


You sure did Dan, you fooled them.

I call little Dan Napoleon, because he wishes to rule the Redskins organization as old Bonaparte wanted to rule the world, and he's short. Except Napoleon was actually a capable general on the other hand Snyder is quite incapable of anything dealing with football.

You see he’s fooled almost everyone up to this point, the fans, the media, but not me. How you may ask has little Dan fooled all these people for all these years, well, he’s NOT cheap. And when you spend in sports folks think you are doing a good job and you care about winning. You see he spends the money to attract the free agents, he really will spare no expense to get the player he wants. There is only one problem with this approach. He gives up draft picks to do it, that is to say, he mortgages the team’s future to win today, he’s not really building a long term winner. And he acquires the wrong players.

HUBRIS

To write that Little Dan is hubris is an understatement. Not only does he not listen to anyone but his impudence goes so far as to fire people who disagree with him. I’m sure he’s tried to fire even those who do not work for him.

Snyder makes sure that all contracts with high ranking employees like coaches give him, little Dan, the final word. As the owner that is his right but having such powers over football decisions is overstepping his boundaries as owner.


How Snyder negotiates a contract.

Snyder has surrounded himself with “YES” boys. The main YES boy is Vinny Cerrato. If you recall Vinny, was a failed general manager in San Fransisco with the 49ers. After being run out of the City by the Bay Vinny “Yes Boy” Cerrato joined ESPN. His job at ESPN was to answer viewer emails regarding football topics, mainly the draft.

I don’t need to tell you that you are not highly regarded in the world of sports if you are answering emails for ESPN, if you were, you would be running an organization. ESPN will hire you because you have experience through your exposure to sports but savvy owners would have nothing to do with you. Unless you are Little Dan and you need a YES boy. You may say well Bill Parcells was at ESPN, but he turned down offers to go back to coaching and thought he would stay retired, Vinny never retired, he was never contacted by anyone else until little Dan called.

Little Dan has owned the Redskins for 10 years and he continues to do as he’s done. Failing year after year to improve the team but continuing to follow the same failed philosophy. That philosophy is FREE AGENCY, forgoing the draft for the sake of winning now, tomorrow be damned. I am amazed that a man who’s approach has failed year after year continues to behave in the same manner without attempting to alter his thinking. Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity describes little Dan most appropriately. Einstein said insanity is ”WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER, BUT EXPECT A DIFFERENT RESULT”

All this is done under the pretense of wanting to win. This guy can’t be serious? Oh but unfortunately he is serious. It’s his way or the highway, it’s my ball and I’ll pick the teams.

STUPIDITY

If little Dan is not insane then he’s plenty stupid. Only stupidity can explain the moves that have been made by this organization. Steve Spurrier, Jason Taylor, Jim Zorn, Jason Campbell, Vinny Cerrato. Collectively the brain trust has displayed an astonishing lack of football acumen. How about the jaw dropping move to bring in the 34 year old Jason Taylor. It is not as bad as it sounds until you give up a second round draft pick to do so.


It's how we all feel after that one

The offensive line has been old for years in Washington and with that in mind are any offensive linemen drafted last year, NO! In the 2nd round the geniuses in the front office drafts THREE receivers (2 receivers and 1 tight end.) This is in part due to the fact that little Dan is delusional about his team’s actual ability. He thinks they are good, that they are only one or two players away from going to the big game. How can a man so deeply involved with the organization have such a great misunderstanding about his team’s chances and actual ability.

Two maybe three years ago the left guard Derrick Dockery was a free agent, he is a decent guard. The ‘Skins opted to let him go to Buffalo, and inexplicably drafted no one to replace him again opting to take free agents. This time it was Pete Kendall from the Jets who was an excellent left guard but he was 35 years old and was nearing the end of his career due to knee problems. With such glaring offensive line problems the organization drafted one offensive lineman in the last 4 years in the first 3 rounds, Chad Rinehart, 3ed round. WOW!

To no ones surprise the offensive line completely collapsed this year and the rest of the team has followed. Just as Napoleons’ plan to rule the world was insane so is little Dan’s plan to rule the Redskins.

One final thought. The Redskins are the only ones in the NFL who throw a draft day party DURING the draft. The Saturday of the draft the head coach flies out to FedEx Field on little Dan's big helicopter to mingle with the fans.
