Well, this is a new one.  Apparently Urban Meyer feels that he needs to explain why Florida did not absolutely demolish Tennesse like everyone expected that they would (and by Meyer's comments, looks like he did too).  According to Urban, he didn't open up his offense because the Volunteers were playing conservatively.  Urban said,

"When I saw them start handing the ball off, I didn't feel like they were going after the win," Meyer said. "They wanted to shorten the game. I think that was the plan. There are 10 minutes to go and they're not in a no-huddle. It's 23-6 and no urgency [on Tennessee's part].

"The way we lose a game there is throw an interception. Why put yourself in that position? Let's find a way to win the game. We're not trying to impress the pollsters. We're trying to win the game. A lot of it had to do with the way they were playing. It made our life a little easier."

Then, he topped it off by saying that several of his players had the flu.

Come on.  You won.  You didn't blow them out because they were better than you thought or you are worse than we all think.  Don't make excuses, Meyer.  You end up looking as petty as Kiffin looks arrogant.
