In the spirit of favorite sports moment I offer....
1980--game 15--Browns win they get in.
IN THE PLAYOFFS! THE ACTUAL PLAYOFFS!
Now, I was 11 at the time so I had all of those plastic helmets that you get from a bubble gum machine and each week I lined them up on top of the tv...the matchups--the whole league. Browns matchup in the middle. Thats what I was setting up on top of my television while Jimmy the greek was busy giving racist gambling advice right in front of me.
This week my beloved Browns were matched up with those Vikings, you know those dreaded vikings with their tiny white quarterback running all over the place...somehow for wins.
Late in the 4th qtr Browns had that game in hand. PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME.
Suddenly Tommy Kramer scrambled around and tossed a long hail mary complete to Ahmad Rashad
for the L.
then
came my "favorite sports moment"
I grabbed that little helmet in my 11 year old hand
and threw it at the wall smahing it into 10 pieces!
that moment was great.
so much greater than the moment right after that when I turned around and saw my mothers face.
