Frank McCourt has fired his estranged wife Jaime from her job as the team's CEO.  If you thought she was just going to take that, you don't know estranged wives.  Her attorney has made it clear that Jaime, "As co-owner of the Dodgers, she will address this and all other issues in the courtroom."

Also, there are reports that "Jaime McCourt is believed to be lining up investors for a possible effort to buy her husband out and gain sole control of the team.  In addition, she was believed to have started calling prominent baseball figures, with the intention of arranging meetings to discuss the direction of the team."

Ownership battles are not new but they have usually involved fights over money and the analysis of contracts and the like.  It does not usually involve a divorcing couple in a community property state, with each one making it clear that they will will be trying to establish that they -- in practice -- are the owners of team.  Frank McCourt is trying to show that he's the owner of the Dodgers by firing his employee, and wife.  At the same time, Jaime McCourt is trying to show that she is the owner by arranging meetings to discuss the direction of the team.

This is a divorce and the kids in the custody battle are the Dodgers.  Does anyone really think this divorce isn't going to be hard on the kids?
